Welcome to our Howden Clough Under 6’s team!
The team is coached by Matthew, Kimberley, Dan and Andy. We train on Friday evenings at the indoor sports hall at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre. Our training sessions try to make sure the children first and foremost have an enjoyable time and want to come back again and again. The sessions tend to involve a mixture of ball control, passing, agility courses and plenty of running and shouting!
Parents and carers are encouraged to watch the sessions from the balcony overseeing the sports hall as this means the children are not distracted as easily. However, we are aware that some children find this difficult at first and we will do everything possible to make the child free settled and happy (including plenty of stickers!)
Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them as they can get warm with all the running and excitement! Parents are also encouraged to take their child to the toilet before the session as coaches cannot take children to the toilets. There are toilets within the sports centre. Also, children are encouraged to wear shin pads as players cannot do physical contact, such as tackling, without them.
We are not allowed to play matches against other teams just yet due to the age of the children. This means we can concentrate on the basics of the game, so the children are best placed to move forward. The children are also not allowed to sign on with the club, again due to their age, and so the sessions are on a pay-as-you-play basis.
We welcome both boys and girls or any footballing ability in school reception year or year one and if you want more information about sessions, please contact Matthew Bancroft on 07725 199136 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or for more info review the Howden Clough JFC website and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/howdencloughjfc/
